The Hunger Games

The Hunger Games The Hunger Games: Book 1 (The Hunger Games Trilogy)Suzanne Collins; Scholastic Press 2010WorldCatLibraryThingGoogle BooksBookFinder As are most movie renditions of popular books this is much better than the movie. The movie stayed true to the plot but the novel is much richer and in depth than the movie could ever be. I’d highly recommend and it’s a quick read.

The Magician

The Magician (The Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel) The Magician (The Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel)Michael Scott; Delacorte Books for Young Readers 2009WorldCatLibraryThingGoogle BooksBookFinderEven though this is marketed to “young readers” I found it on par with the Harry Potter series. Maybe not as deep or as macabre but the mythological tone worked for me and the action and magic was great fun! This is the second book in the Alchemyst series.

The Chronicles of Amber

The great book of Amber The great book of Amber: the complete Amber chronicles, 1-10Roger Zelazny; Avon Books 1999WorldCatRead OnlineLibraryThingGoogle BooksBookFinder
If you are sci-fi and/or fantasy fan and you haven’t read Zelazny’s Amber Series you’re in for a treat! Full of believable fantasy with depth on par with Tolkein. The first 5 books are better than the second 5 so if nothing else do those! 🙂
